LENT: A TIME OF SILENCE

Often we are afraid of silence seems to indicate that loneliness and depression. The silence seems to us a deep void that we fill at any cost with any noise. So we use TV, radio, telephone, mobile, internet, popping up in your days of sounds, images, words often useless and trivial. Writes Bruno Ferrero, a novelist who recently passed away:

billions of words every day, we invest in, pierce us, we suffocate. Being able to speak is a great gift. Because man does not say too many blunders, God gave him ten fingers because I can remember his wise advice:

that your first word is good ,
that your second word is true ,
that your third word is right ,
fourth word is that your generous ,
fifth word is that your courageous ,
that your sixth word is tender,
that your seventh word is comforting ,
that your word is the eighth friendly,
that your word is the ninth respectful.
and your tenth word is wise.
Then shut up!

It 's true that there are silences that have their roots in evil: the silence of antipathy, bitterness, resentment, hatred, or silence of cowardice, of silence and complicity. However there is also a highly positive silence, which is a necessary condition to listen to others and especially the Other.
Lent is a more opportune time to break down the walls of our silences selfish and to build instead that Silence of the heart that allows us to empty ourselves of useless words and fill in the Word, which allows us to get rid of crashing sounds to listen to the sweet breath of the Spirit.
